Exacerbations are a key cause of morbidity and\u00a0mortality and place a considerable burden on health-care systems. While there is evidence that patients\u00a0benefit from non-invasive ventilation (NIV) in hospital during an acute exacerbation, evidence supporting\u00a0home use for more stable COPD patients is limited.
