{"id":225485,"date":"2026-02-25T13:36:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T10:36:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new-inbit.dev-praxis.gr\/?post_type=hta_library&#038;p=225485"},"modified":"2026-02-25T13:36:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T10:36:12","slug":"nanotechnology-an-evidence-based-analysis","status":"publish","type":"hta_library","link":"https:\/\/www.inbit.gr\/el\/hta_library\/nanotechnology-an-evidence-based-analysis\/","title":{"rendered":"Nanotechnology: An Evidence-Based Analysis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Due to continuing advances in the development of structures, devices, and systems with a length of about&nbsp;1 to 100 nanometres (nm) (1 nm is one billionth of a metre), the Medical Advisory Secretariat conducted&nbsp;a horizon scanning appraisal of nanotechnologies as new and emerging technologies, including an&nbsp;assessment of the possibly disruptive impact of future nanotechnologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the United States proclaimed a 2015 challenge goal of eliminating&nbsp;suffering and death from cancer. To help meet this goal, the NCI is engaged in a concerted effort to&nbsp;introduce nanotechnology \u201cto radically change the way we diagnose, treat and prevent cancer.\u201d It is the&nbsp;NCI\u2019s position that \u201cmelding nanotechnology and cancer research and development efforts will have a&nbsp;profound, disruptive effect on how we diagnose, treat, and prevent cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, this appraisal sought to determine the systemic effects of nanotechnologies that target, image and&nbsp;deliver drugs, for example, with respect to health human resources, training, and new specialties; and to&nbsp;assess the current status of these nanotechnologies and their projected timeline to clinical utilization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","categories":[17],"tags":[85],"class_list":["post-225485","hta_library","type-hta_library","status-publish","hentry","category-full-reports","tag-nanotechnology"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.inbit.gr\/el\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/hta_library\/225485","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.inbit.gr\/el\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/hta_library"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.inbit.gr\/el\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/hta_library"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.inbit.gr\/el\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=225485"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.inbit.gr\/el\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=225485"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.inbit.gr\/el\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=225485"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
