WHO CC for Medical Equipment Management and Assessment

The Institute of Biomedical Technology (INBIT) announces its designation by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Medical Equipment Management and Assessment, under WHO reference number GRE-36. WHO formally communicated this designation in a letter dated 3 March 2026.

This designation constitutes an important institutional milestone for INBIT and reflects the Institute’s established contribution to the fields of biomedical technology, medical equipment management, and assessment. It further confirms INBIT’s role in supporting health systems through technical expertise, scientific collaboration, and the promotion of quality-oriented approaches in healthcare technology management.

According to the designation letter, the Centre will operate under the leadership of Professor Nicolas Pallikarakis and Dr Aris Dermitzakis, who will serve as Heads of the Centre.

The designation is effective for a period of four years, from 25 February 2026 until 24 February 2030, unless redesignation is approved by WHO before that date.

INBIT regards this designation as both an honour and a responsibility. As noted by WHO, collaborating centres are expected to implement their agreed workplan in a timely manner and to the highest possible standard of quality.

In this context, INBIT reaffirms its commitment to advancing high-level scientific and technical work in support of healthcare systems, medical equipment policy, and international cooperation.

The Institute expresses its appreciation to the World Health Organization for this designation and looks forward to contributing to a productive and impactful collaboration in the years ahead.
