The World Health Organization has published the report of the Fifth WHO Global Forum on Medical Devices, and INBIT was glad to have contributed to this global effort.
One year on from the Forum (2–4 June 2025), the report brings together dedicated pages for all 15 Forum topics, participant statistics, and the collective work of a community focused on a shared goal: safe, effective and affordable medical devices for everyone, everywhere.
INBIT’s CEO, Dr Aris Dermitzakis, took part in Panel 10 — “Assessing Innovative Health Technologies for Low-Resource Settings” — with a talk on “Health Technology Assessment: Evidence-Based,” addressing how structured, evidence-based HTA helps the right technologies reach the patients who need them most.
Thank you to Adriana Velazquez Berumen, whose leadership and long-standing advocacy shaped this Forum and decades of WHO work on medical devices. As she recently noted, “we capture the moment, learn from it, and plan for a better future.” As she begins a new chapter, that spirit continues to inspire the community.
Thanks also to WHO, the organisers, and all panelists and participants who contributed to the Forum. As a WHO Collaborating Centre for Medical Equipment Management & Assessment (GRE-36), INBIT remains committed to evidence-based, accessible and sustainable health technology.
